Yes, to visit Andaman and Nicobar Islands, foreigners have to have a valid passport. In addition to a passport and Indian visa, they must also acquire a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) which will contain approved places and places of stay. This permit is normally given out on arrival at the Port Blair airport. However a passport is not required by the Indian citizens. Foreign guests must make sure their papers are good enough throughout the trip to prevent any inconvenience.
